Amigos Y Amigas, Inc. is a nonprofit, community based organization that has been in existence since 1986. Our Family Activity Center encourages youth and their families to become involved in their communities as a way to make positive changes.
The Family Activity Center provides youth, siblings, parents, grandparents, and any familial significant other an alternative means of community, family, and neighborhood engagement. The center also provides education and intervention based support for members of the neighborhood and community, and their families.
Our goal and mission is to help relieve economic, educational, and family structure stresses within the South Broadway area. The organization has been successful in accomplishing these goals by offering parenting classes, structured recreation, health education, and job skills classes. Recently, the organization has enhanced its computer lab for economic and recreational activities, educational interventions for youth experiencing struggles in academia, and resource distribution for needy families at risk.
Overall, we provide prevention based neighborhood activities, and have recently added intervention based services. Roni Montoya has been the Executive Director since the organization began. She has more than 20 years in drug abuse education and prevention, most of which was spent working with youth. Please consider contacting and working with us towards our goal of collaboration. With community involvement on every systemic level, together, we can bring the most comprehensive approach to supporting needy families at risk within the neighborhood.
